About Me

My Experience

  • I am an active community organizer.  I was instrumental in the founding of Clarks Hill Citizens Association where I lobbied for paving of the roads and upgrading of the water supply.
  • I partnered with Brandon Hill Junior High to establish a much needed reading room.
  • As chairman of the board of the Golden Spring Community Centre, I oversaw much needed refurbishment of the bathrooms, furnishing of the facility which became available to be used for various classes, meetings and events.
  • I have provided legal aid to persons in the community who were unable to afford services in areas of conveyance and civil law.
  • I served on the West Rural St Andrew constituency management committee, agriculture and community tourism committees from 2012-2015
  • I chaired the public relations committee and served as editor of constituency' s quarterly newsletter WRSA

My Background & Education

I am one of five daughters of Cecil & Yvette Richards. My extended family includes Torey, Pecco and McGlashan who are well known in and around the Division.

I graduated from Immaculate Conception High and the University of the West Indies where I majored in journalism. I went on to complete an LLB degree at University of the West Indies Law then Norman Manley Law School.

My Goals

  • I will lobby for coffee farmers in the division to get fair prices and to help restore economic stability in the farming communities. Establish a sustainable representative body.
  • I will continue and expand the Learn & Earn programme that was initiated in 2019 for youth in the community to acquire job skills whilst earning a living.
  • I will continue with programmes that provide access to resources for education through academic scholarships and needs based grants. I will place emphasis on special education.
  • I will continue to encourage creative ideas & entrepreneurship by assisting with business start ups, bringing short term training and support into the community in areas of technology, hospitality and construction.
  • I will continue to support the development of sports and recreation in the community.
  • I will seek partnerships to address our dire infrastructure needs.
